Hello!

We are an award winning arts education organisation based in Northern Ireland. We produce live theatre and events and create bespoke workshops and projects for clients all over the UK & Ireland.

We have lots of offer and there are some examples of the work we do across the site. The majority of our work is created on commission and we are always happy to chat through any ideas you might have.

Productions

Our live productions encompass street performance, site-specific theatre, touring stage shows, interactive children’s shows and forum. We also produce recorded work in film, TV and audio . We use storytelling, physical theatre, sometimes music, mask, puppetry and multi sensory elements to create personal and engaging work. Our artistic output is informed by our social and educational work and many of our productions are aimed at specific audiences.

We have work which is available for traditional theatres, community venues, schools, museums, libraries etc. We are always excited to work on site specific and historical-factual interpretive projects.

Events and Festivals

We provide performers, walkabout acts and interactive workshops which can be themed to most events. We offer drama, arts and crafts, music and dance based workshops- either rolling or set time. We can work on a roaming basis or be venue specific. Our workshops are suitable for marquees, outdoors and indoors. We have a variety of options available that include performance, walkabout and workshops. All of our work is fully risk assessed, insured and feature professional artists.

Youth Theatre

We have run youth theatre groups in dozens of venues including at ITV, Cheltenham Everyman, Bath Theatre Royal, Lyric Theatre Belfast. Our young company ‘Stage Play’ is based at Accidental Theatre in Belfast and we have run a busy youth theatre at Belfast’s Grand Opera House since 2011 with both primary and secondary aged groups. Our facilitators have worked for Shakespeare Schools Festival, National Youth Theatre and several leading drama schools. We take a workshop approach with a mix of games, exercises and productions and include work on stage, screen and audio. We have writers, actors and backstage participants. Arts and Older people

Our work for older people has been NHS commended and we have won a number of awards for our past projects. Our programmes are research driven and have a creative focus. We work in care homes, hospitals and with community organisations to provide a range of workshops and programmes devised for older people. They include drama, storytelling, writing, photography and art based activities. We undertake reminisce based projects and are involved in several active ageing programmes. We have an older people’s theatre group which follows our youth theatre model as part of our ‘Stage Play’ initiative. We can bring our work to most settings including our range of performances aimed at older audiences.

Education

Theatre Without Walls work directly with primary and secondary schools and with Museums and Galleries providing arts workshops, historic actors, talks, theatre production support and mentoring. We have general family learning options as well as workshops and schemes of work designed for specific year groups and keystages.

Our History Comes Alive! actors are very popular as are our science and ecological linked workshops. We have workshops available in many curriculum areas and for specific events and seasons.

Community groups

We love working with people from all walks of life and with different abilities. We have developed a number of specialised programmes for people with particular needs and can deliver once off sessions or regular workshops. We work with film, photography, arts and crafts, music, sensory elements and can be a flexible as you are.
